Ruston’s new Christmas tree

Ruston has a new lighted Christmas tree in Railroad Park this year. Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker, his wife Kay, Louisiana Tech University President Jim Henderson, and his wife, Tonia, flipped an oversized ceremonial switch Thursday, lighting the new, 30-foot-tall, all-light tree. The original tree was buffeted by high winds last year that destroyed the strands.

Physics faculty awarded $625,000 for design and research

The National Science Foundation has awarded a group of physics faculty at Louisiana Tech University’s College of Engineering and Science ( COES) a grant to collaborate with other U. S. and international groups to design, build, and commission parityviolating electron scattering experiments at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility ( Jefferson Lab) in Newport News, Virginia.

Library passes deficit budget for facility projects
