Murphy named to all-Conference USA third team

Louisiana Tech senior golfer Mac Murphy has been named to the All-Conference USA third team this season.
Louisiana Tech senior golfer Mac Murphy was named third team all-Conference USA as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
It is the second time in his Tech career Murphy has earned all-conference honors after being named first team all-Conference USA in the 2019-20 season.
Murphy competed in all 10 events of the 2020-21 season where he led the Bulldogs with a stroke average of 72.56. The Decatur, Ala., native tied for second in two tournaments during the year with a five-under (72-67—139) at the LaTour Intercollegiate and a four-under (71-71-70—212) at the Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational. Murphy finished 14 rounds under par during the 2020-21 campaign, including a season-low 67 twice.
Murphy just competed at the U.S. Open local qualifier in Edmond, Okla., where he finished second with a three-under 67. Murphy will next compete in the final qualifier at the Dallas Athletic Club in Dallas, Texas, on May 24. The 121st U.S. Open will take place at the Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, Calif., from Jun 17-20.
