A mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Herman John Manuel, age 93 of Ruston, will be held at 11 a. m., Thursday, February 9, 2023 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Ruston with Father Kevin Mues and Bro. Mike Ward officiating.

Burial will follow in the Kilpatrick Memorial Garden Cemetery in Ruston.

Herman was born June 12, 1929, at his home in the farming community of Duralde, to Bathile and Willie Manuel, and he entered the gates of Heaven February 5, 2023 in Ruston.

He was the youngest of 10 children and was the only one to graduate high school. Herman graduated from Basile High School in 1947 and went on to attend Mc-Neese State University before graduating from Louisiana State University with both a BS and a MS in agriculture. He then went to work in Lake Charles and met Mary Ann Porter.

The two married July 4, 1953, and were blessed with three children. Herman and his family moved to Ruston, and he started his job managing the grounds at Louisiana Tech University. Upon retirement in 1986, he started his own landscaping business and raised cattle. Herman dearly loved and was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

He shared with them and others a gentle spirit and wisdom from years well lived. Herman saw the good in everything and in everyone.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary; and son- in- law, John Adams.

Herman is survived by his children, Sandi Manuel Adams, David Manuel and Ginger, and Colleen Manuel Cox and Carey; grandchildren, Joshua Adams and Heidi, Mallary Adams, Melissa Manuel Rawl and Jordy, Matt Manuel and Courtney, Christine Cox Ourso and Cliff, and Carey Michael Cox; eleven great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Adams, Matt Manuel, Carey Michael Cox, Cliff Ourso, Flint Sibayan and Kevin Williamson.

Visitation will be 9:3010: 45 a. m., Thursday, February 9, 2023, in the Joe and Roger Luffey Family Life Center at the church.
