John “Bruce” Thompson

Funeral services for John “Bruce” Thompson, age 91, of Ruston, LA, will be held graveside at Vienna Cemetery on Hwy.167 in Vienna, LA. The service will begin at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2021. Visitation will precede the service at 1 p.m. at the cemetery.

Mr. Thompson was born on Nov 2, 1929, in Swartz, LA and passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020.

Mr. Thompson was a Korean War Veteran. He was a graduate of the State Police Academy and the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy. He enjoyed a successful career in law enforcement and retired as Captain of Louisiana State Police Troop F.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Bennie Melle Thompson.

He is survived by his daughter, Shawn Moss and her husband Craig; his two grandsons, Corey and Blake Moss; his sister Irene Booth of Baton Rouge, LA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Premier Hospice Care for their love and support.
