Lincoln Prep will follow Louisiana’s mask mandate
Friday, August 13, 2021

Like its counterparts in the public school district, Lincoln Preparatory School will also be requiring all employees and students 5 years old and up to wear masks while indoors this school year.

Funded by the state, the Gramblingbased charter school will adhere to Gov. John Bel Edwards’ mask mandate for as long as it’s in place.

“If the governor’s order isn’t renewed, we’ll reevaluate,” Executive Director Gordan Ford said.

The current order runs through Sept. 1. Lincoln Prep students go back to class on Monday.

Ford said the school will be working to keep students at least 3 feet apart in the classroom and will keep elementary students in static groups, meaning those classes will stay together throughout the school day and not co-mingle.

Lincoln Prep is operating out of its temporary campus at the site of a former Fred’s store in Grambling for one more school year before its new, $30 million campus is set to open in 2022.
