Tech launches School of Banking

Sunday, January 9, 2022

Registration is now open for the inaugural cohort of Louisiana Tech University’s School of Banking.

Presented by the College of Business in collaboration with the Louisiana Bankers Association (LBA), this professional development program aims to expand the skills and knowledge base of rising bank leaders, regulators, and vendors. Classes will take place June 6-10 and June 5-9, 2023.

“Our strategic focus on fintech, innovation, regional economic development, and information security will help our state’s bankers further hone skills that have become increasingly critical to the banking industry,” said Chris Martin, Dean of Louisiana Tech’s College of Business. “We look forward to welcoming our first cohort of bankers to campus this summer, and are grateful for the support of our sponsors and the LBA.”

Courses taught by Louisiana Tech faculty members, top banking executives, regulators, and select services providers will cover a variety of topics, including operations, risk management, liquidity, marketing and sales, and regulation.

On-campus BankExec simulations and off-campus case studies completed between years will complement and enhance classroom discussions. Additionally, on- and off-campus networking and mentoring will take place throughout the two-year cohort.

“Bankers asked for a two-year banking school that could provide bank-wide training, and, by collaborating with Louisiana Tech University, the School of Banking has become a reality,” said Ginger Laurent, Chief Executive Officer for the LBA.

B1BANK has joined forces with the College of Business, offering their support as presenting sponsor.
