Show your love for Lincoln
It probably comes as no surprise that art opportunities are abundant in Lincoln Parish during the following weeks. As part of the 150th celebration of our parish, through June 16, you can stop by the Lincoln Parish Library and pick up a heart cutout at any service desk.
Take it home and decorate it with something you love about Lincoln Parish. Please be sure to put your name and phone number on the back of your heart. Return it to the Library by June 26, so it can be added to their “ We LOVE Lincoln” display that will be featured throughout the Library from July 5 through Aug. 6.
Hearts will be available for pickup starting Aug. 9. Any hearts left unclaimed after Aug. 31, 2023 become the property of Lincoln Parish Library.
The Peach Art Exhibit art drop off was a major success this year. The North Central Louisiana Arts Council took in 185 pieces which is an increase of 29 submissions from last year’s show. The exhibit will be open to the public from June 1 through 25 during regular library hours in the Chautauqua Gallery of the Lincoln Parish Library.
The Juror for this year’s exhibit is Stefan Nodarse. He is the Curator of Collections and Exhibitions for the Masur Museum of Art in Monroe. Mark your calendars to join us for the opening reception in the Library Events Center on June 1 from 5 to 7 pm. On June 2, the Dixie Center for the Arts is proud to bring you Arkansauce. and guest James Linden Hogg to their stage with some of the finest acoustic music to ever tickle your eardrums. While Arkansauce’s sound might fit in with any back porch gathering, their music feels both classic and contemporary at the same time, allowing for a blend that’s immediately engaging.
All members of the quartet contribute to the singing and songwriting. James Linden Hogg, who is a past Louisiana state fiddle champion, is opening for Arkansauce. He is an American musician, writer, and storyteller. Inspired by his European heritage. He has recorded four albums in the Celtic and folk genres. The concert starts at 7 p.m. For tickets visit dixiecenter.org The Inaugural Juneteenth Indie Gospel Artist Contest is wrapping up their competition over the next few weeks. On June 2 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. the next round will be hosted at Temple Baptist Church.
Finals will be hosted at Zion Traveler Baptist Church on June 16 at 6 p.m. The regional winner will open for the Real Change in Ruston Juneteenth Concert on June 17 in Railroad Park at 6:30 p.m. All of these events are sure to provide excellent entertainment and community celebration for all.
