Coronavirus cases continue to climb

And then there were 33. That’s the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Lincoln Parish, according to figures released Friday by the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total is up by five cases from the day before. Friday’s number marked the sixth consecutive daily increase. The report does not indicate the condition of any of the patients or whether they are hospitalized.

The number of swab tests administered locally now stands at 248. So far, the parish has recorded no deaths of local residents due to COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus.

Figures reported to the state are supposed to reflect Lincoln Parish residents only.

Meantime, the Louisiana case count is up to 19,253. That’s up 1,015 from Thursday. The virus has now claimed 755 lives.

Tensas Parish remains the only parish without a confirmed case of COVID-19.
