Aldermen set to fill Jedd Lewis vacancy

Ruston’s Board of Aldermen is scheduled to meet in special session at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to choose a replacement for District 3 Alderman Jedd Lewis who resigned this week.

Lewis has been on the board since 2003.

Mayor Ronny Walker is expected to nominate Lewis’ wife, Melanie, the fill the remaining 17 months of her husband’s term.

Louisiana law does not require a special election be held to fill a vacant municipal office unless more than 18 months remain in the term.
