Leader photo by Celeste Holley Law enforcement officials investigate the death of a man along the railroad tracks in downtown Ruston Friday afternoon. Officials have not released any further details regarding the fatality.

An unidentified male died late Friday afternoon along the Canadian Pacific Kansas City railroad tracks in downtown Ruston after being hit by a train.
Deputy Ruston Police Chief Henry Wood said the victim was a white male between 50 and 60 years old. He was not carrying any identification, Wood said.
The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. on the tracks across from West Park Avenue. The freight train was westbound traveling at approximately 55 mph, officials said.
The engine stopped at the Homer Street crossing, several blocks west of the incident.
Traffic was backed up for blocks both north and south on Trenton and Vienna streets until officials could get permission to move the train out of the two major intersections.
The incident remains under investigation.
