It will likely be another week before parish voting officials know whether a petition seeking to expand alcohol sales in Ruston garnered enough valid signatures to bring the issue to a vote.
Studies show that the joy and well-being found in what is referred to as the “most wonderful time of the year,” Thanksgiving, Christmas, and bringing in the New Year, will escape many people due to circumstances that are beyond them.
With Thanksgiving over, the focus turns to the Ruston Community Theatre’s production of Elf: The Musical, set to hit the stage Dec. 1-4 at the Dixie Center for the Arts in Ruston.
The streets of Ruston will be alive Saturday from noon to 4 p. m., filled with the Spirit of Christmas as residents and visitors will be able to find the perfect gift, while music and art fill the streets and shops.
The Jonesboro Christmas Festival, Christmas Wonderland in the Pines, is set for this weekend, with the parade Grand Marshal’s coffee at 10 a.m. along with vendors opening on Polk Avenue, also at 10 a.m.
