GRAMBLING — When Lincoln Preparatory School seniors walk the stage to receive their high school diplomas Tuesday, nearly half of the graduating class will have already received their first college degree.

Not long ago, Tom and I were in the Jeep, and as it often happens, the radio was tuned to the Elvis channel on Sirius XM Radio. Immersed in the music, very little was being said.
On April 22, Lincoln Parish lost a man who was a visionary in the truest sense. Fredric Lee Hoogland was the founder of one of the most popular attractions, not only for Lincoln Parish but for the surrounding area and regions far removed from the hills of north Louisiana.
Several weeks ago, we explored personal boundaries in this column and they are a part of healthy relationships. One expert wrote that boundaries serve as lines or “fences” that delineate where one person ends and another begins.
The Dixie Center for the Arts and the North Central Louisiana Arts Council are seeking artworks that depict our historic Dixie building. These works do not need to be new, nor do they need to be available for sale. We want to create an exhibit that showcases this Lincoln Parish landmark throughout time. The exhibit will be displayed in the Dixie Lobby through the end of July.
