While people involved in the timber industry in Union Parish are engaged in an ongoing dialogue about an ordinance proposed by the Union Parish Police Jury to require permits for companies involved in timber harvesting and transporting, a state representative is engaged in “an end run that one parish attorney says is so bad it shouldn’t even be considered.” At their April 3 meeting, members of the Police Jury discussed an ordinance that puts the permit plan in place.
