Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker and the city’s aldermen will get raises if the Board of Aldermen approves the proposed budget for the coming fiscal year. The $20,000 raise for Walker and the $2,400 increase for each of the five aldermen are contained in the draft budget the board recommended to itself Monday night in its role as the city’s personnel-finance committee. Aldermen will vote on the budget Sept. 10. The city’s spending year begins Oct. 1. If the proposed budget is approved, Walker’s salary will jump to $100,000 annually beginning Jan. 1, the start of his new term. Aldermen’s annual pay...
