Louisiana Tech head coach Josh Taylor announced today that outfielder Sierra Sacco has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Lady Techsters starting this fall. Sacco is a lefthanded hitting speedster who starred at John Curtis Christian High School during her prep career.

“Sierra is a dynamic outfielder with a plus arm and great speed,” said Taylor. “We are excited to welcome her to the Tech softball family.”

Sacco lettered the past six seasons for the Patriots, helping lead the program to the Louisiana Class 5A state titles in 2018 and 221. As a senior she batted .589 with 42 stolen bases. Her sophomore season saw her hit .670 with 67 stolen bases (in 68 attempts).

“I chose Louisiana Tech University because as soon as I stepped foot on campus it felt really comfortable to me,” said Sacco. “The coaches were very welcoming. As I was touring the softball facilities, I felt like this is where I was meant to play.”

Sacco is a 4-time allstate selection, a 4-time all-metro selection and a 5-time all-district selection. She was named the District 9-5A MVP as a senior and was named the 2019 Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 5A Most Outstanding Player.

She also lettered three years on the John Curtis volleyball team, leading the program to the state semifinals in 2020 while earning all-district honors three straight years. A member of the National Honor Society, Sacco played travel ball for the Mariucci Patriots.
