Ross died January 24, 2021, in Ruston, LA. He was born on September 25, 1941 in Arcadia, LA. to Bessie Elaine Simpson Perritt and Ruby “Dee” Perritt.

Ross was a cattleman in North Louisiana for over 60 years. He joined Livestock Producers of Bossier City in 1964, and then moved with his customers to Red River Livestock Auctions where he continued buying, selling and transporting cattle until his death. He was always willing to help with a problem — be it livestock or other — and did not hesitate to come to the aid of anyone seeking help. Ross was known and respected for putting the cattleman first and foremost in their dealings.

Eventually, his love of cattle and farm life led him and his brother, Fred to invest in a farm just north of Arcadia where they developed their own cattle operation. Ross designed and helped build the pens that continue to be used today to hold and group cattle. The farm not only grew into a gathering place for the Alabama community to “catch up” on gossip but the place for Ross to have Fred and Willis bring their children then grandchildren. Ross always wanted to have the opportunity to spoil them. He spent many a day and night entertaining them with an “Icee” run. All will remember this fondly.

Ross also served his country proudly as a member of the National Guard for more than five years during Vietnam.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Willis, and a great-niece, Caroline Perritt.
