Joyce Craft Crowe

Joyce Ann Crowe was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She left this world peacefully on July 24, 2021 surround by her children Angela Sterry and Susie Coe in Wharton, Texas.

Joyce was born in Maysville, Ky., on December 9, 1942, to Boyd and Kathryn Craft. Joyce attended Orangeburg School and graduated in 1960.

She was her class president and a gifted vocalist which earned her many awards and accolades. Joyce was a daddy’s girl and loved him dearly and was often found working side-by-side with him on their tobacco farm and helping milk the dairy cattle they raised.

After high school, she went to beauty school where she studied to become a hairstylist. Joyce had a keen eye for creating beauty and using her hands to create that beauty either while working as a hairdresser or later in life as a florist.

She met her husband of 42 years, William Crowe in 1973, and they eventually settled in Ruston, where they raised Angela and Susie.

Bill and Joyce were very active in the community and developed lifelong friendships. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and a former member of Cook Baptist Church where she continued her love of singing in the choir.

Joyce was involved in the Ruston Garden Club, and on most Friday nights, in the fall, Bill and Joyce could be found supporting the Ruston High School Bearcats.

She loved going camping with friends over the years. Joyce always dreamed of becoming a florist; after retiring, Joyce went back to school to get her florist designer’s license; and was able to fulfill her dream.

She was passionate about creating beautiful floral arrangements and using this form of art to bring happiness to others.

She loved her pets, working in the yard, her family, and friends. After decades in Ruston, Bill and Joyce moved to Texas to be close to Angie and Susie and their grandchildren, Brooke, Landen, and Courtney.

Her family misses their memaw so much and is very thankful to all that have touched her life over the years. Joyce’s love, strength, and patience are just a few of the gifts she gave her children and grandchildren.

Her friendships knew no limits her love of God, and her unwavering faith helped her throughout her life and has carried her through the Heavenly gates.

The family will have a private Celebration of Life event at a later date.
