Johnie Lois Manning Echols

Johnie Lois Manning Echols, our precious wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother was born on May 24, 1934, in El Dorado, Arkansas, and went to be with the Lord on November 22, 2021, at Alpine Rehab in Ruston.

She grew up in Smackover, Arkansas, and graduated from Smackover High School in 1951. She attended Southern State College in Magnolia, Arkansas, before graduating from Warner Brown School of Nursing in 1955.

Johnie and Glenn were married in 1956 and moved to Ruston for Glenn to attend Louisiana Tech. Johnie was employed as a surgical nurse at Lincoln General Hospital for over 20 years.

Johnie and Glenn are members of Temple Baptist Church. In addition to raising three daughters and working full time, she enjoyed sewing for her girls and grandchildren, spending time with family, ceramics, and bridge club with friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband Glenn and three daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda Martin, Sharon Kilpatrick and Kevin and Susan Upp and Bobby.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The grandchildren are Sarah Wiley (Richard), David Kilpatrick (Nancy), Ben Kilpatrick (Emily), Matt Kilpatrick, Katlyn Upp, Elizabeth Upp, James Upp, Amy Moore (Josh), Ashley Sella (Edmundson), and Chris Martin.

She also is survived by stepbrother, James and Lura Brown; and stepsister, Charlene Yarborough.

Visitation will be held Saturday November 27, 2021, from 2-3 p.m. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston and a memorial service will follow at 3. The service will be officiated by Rev. Dale Oden and Dr. Reggie Bridges.

A private burial will be held at the Forest Lawn Cemetery on Sunday afternoon. Pallbearers will be Rusty Mabry, James Frazier, Richard Jones, Joey Sutton, James Fuller and Ronny Vollentine.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Johnie’s name to Temple Baptist Church in Ruston.
