Jeanne Allsop Love

Funeral services for Jeanne Allsop Love will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Wesley Chapel in Ruston.

Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Jeanne Allsop, second daughter of William and Margery Raven Allsop, was born March 18th, 1934, in Lakenheath, England.

Jeanne attended school in Lakenheath and grew up in a family that would eventually have five children. As they grew up, they were all expected to work. Singling their dad’s sugar beets, or picking strawberries during the season, was all part of the life of the three older girls – Daphne, Jeanne, and Shirley — who were close in age.

Jeanne worked with the local milkman, delivering milk to customers at five-o-clock in the morning. This was her job for a number of years. In the spring of 1954 Jeanne went with a group from Lakenheath to London to hear Billy Graham speak and this is when she trusted Christ as her personal savior.

Years later she took a job in the commissary at the Lakenheath Air Base. During this time, her nephew Larry came to make his home with the grandparents. Jeanne lovingly cared for him and became like another mum to him. Victor Love came into her life as her boss at the commissary.

She came to the United States to be with him. They were married at the Wesley Chapel in Ruston, on December 11, 1971. Her brother-in-law, Rev. Eddie Young, performed the ceremony, and she spent the rest of her life with the man she fell in love with.

They shared many happy years together; they loved to travel, made trips to England, and attended lots of Love family gatherings. She was happy wherever she was. Jeanne was a loving caregiver for Vic during his illness prior to his passing. She later took trips with her sisters and niece to visit family.

The special time for Jeanne was the time she spent every summer at the beach with the Young family. They were all so good to her. As her health began to fail, she was so thankful for the loving care she received from her friend Jan, her niece Heather and her nephew Bill and his wife Becky, for the wonderful love during her last days.

God took her to her heavenly home May 15, 2021, at the age of 87 years and two months. Jeanne brought so much laughter and happiness into our lives.

She was loved by so many, including her sisters Daphne Young, Shirley Rodgers, and Muriel Nobbs; her brother, John (Edna) Allsop; and nephews, nieces, great nieces and nephews and even great-great nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She had a special bond with her great niece Esther, who talked to her every day.

Thank you God, we have all been blessed. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
