Janet Murphy

A funeral service for Janet Murphy, age 79 of Dubach, was held Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Hico Baptist Church. Bro. Don Cardin officiated under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.

Visitation was held Wednesday, April 14, 2021, from 5-7 p.m. at Hico Baptist Church. Interment took place at Henry Cemetery following the service. Janet graduated from Louisiana Tech University and received her master’s degree from Northwestern State University. Janet taught and retired from Bossier Parish School System with 30 years of service.

While at Airline High School, Janet coached softball, volleyball and basketball. She enjoyed sewing, stained glass, and cooking. Janet was a life time member of Hico Baptist Church where she played the organ and piano. She also retired from the US Postal Service (USPS) with over 14 years of service.

Preceded in death are her parents, C.L. and Reba Murphy; sister, Glenda Murphy Cruse; and brother, Danny Bob Murphy.

Those left to cherish her memory are her siblings, James W. Murphy (Cecile) of Bedias, Texas, Brenda Murphy of Hico, Joel Lane Murphy of Hico, Kenneth Ray Murphy (Nelda B) of Good Hope, Ga., Michael Murphy (Mary Nell) of Ruston, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and as other family and friends.
