Graveside service for James D. “Jim” Richardson, 91, of Ruston will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Cook Cemetery with Bro. Jim Davis officiating.

Interment will follow under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Jim passed away at home following a brief illness on April 20, 2021.

Jim was born on November 30, 1929, to Bill and Katherine Richardson of Ruston. After graduating from Ruston High School in 1949, he started his career with Southern Bell.That same year he was drafted into the Army where he served in Korea during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1951.

He resumed his career, retiring with 35 years of service from Bell South. During his service in the Army, he married the love of his life Geneva Beck. Jim and Geneva were charter members of the Caney Lake Good Sams camping club. They enjoyed traveling and camping with the camping club and were members for 20 years.

They made annual trips to Quartzsite, Arizona, to camp with family and friends. Jim was a member of the Ruston Church of Christ from an early age. He was preceded in death by his parents,W.D. “Bill” Richardson and Katherine Thrasher; siblings, Nancy Lynch, Byron Richardson, John Richardson, Elaine Huey, Bud Richardson.

Jim is survived by his wife of 70 years, Geneva Richardson; sons, Paul (Kala) Richardson, Rob (Pam) Richardson, Scott (Linda) Richardson; grandchildren, David Richardson, Chris Hammons, Chad Richardson, Jamie Richardson, Amanda Rodgers, Clint Richardson, Zachry Richardson; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Richardson, Chad Richardson, Jamie Richardson, Clint Richardson, Zachry Richardson and Riley Rushing. Honorary pallbearers are former Bell South Employees.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ruston Church of Christ or Cook Cemetery. “Dear God, I thank you for my family, I pray that throughout this home we will be able to feel your presence. I pray for each of my family members that you would bless them and protect them as they go about their day and help point their eyes towards you. In Jesus name, Amen.”
