James ‘Jimbo’ Ragan Freeman

James “Jimbo” Ragan Freeman, age 71, passed away Friday, April 1, 2022 in Ruston, after a lengthy illness. He was born to Clarence Freeman, Jr. and Verine Golden Freeman on February 24, 1951 in Jonesboro.

Jimbo was preceded in death by his parents and special friend, Debbie Silmon. He is survived by his son, Brian Freeman of Ruston; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and John Quarles, of Moss Bluff; daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Jason Smith of Kennewick, Washington; his grandchildren, Hunter Freeman, Madelyn Freeman, Max Quarles, Landry Quarles, Kirby Smith, and Calvin Smith; brothers, John Freeman and wife, Pam of Dubach; Mike Freeman and wife, Susan of Ruston; Greg Freeman and wife, Christi of Ruston; Scott Freeman and wife, Sonya, of Ruston; sister, Rhonda Freeman Hicks and husband Gary of Beverly Hills, Florida; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jimbo was a skilled plumber by trade and enjoyed working until he was no longer able. He was an avid outdoorsman and would never turn down an opportunity to spend time in the woods hunting deer or turkeys. Jimbo loved his family and cherished the time he was able to spend with them.

He leaves behind many friends that were like family to him. He will be missed by many.

Jimbo will be cremated under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home as was his request. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Jimbo’s memory to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries or the wildlife organization of your choice.
