Felton Wayne ‘Pat’ Barlow

Ruston lost a devoted citizen on February 14, 2022, when Felton Wayne “Pat” Barlow joined his Heavenly Father at the age of 87.

Pat was born to Ponce and Ruby Barlow on June 11, 1934, and grew up on the outskirts of Jonesboro. From an early age, Pat was never one to shy away from hard work, a spirited debate, or the opportunity to put his mischievous humor on display.

Pat served in the United States Military with the Air Force from July 1952-1956 rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He found tremendous pride in his role as a Flight Navigator on the iconic B-29 Super Fortress as part of the Strategic Air Command stationed out of Randolph Air Force Base near San Antonio, Texas.

Pat had the good fortune to marry Joann Barlow, the love of his life, on April 3, 1954. He attended Louisiana Tech University earning both his Bachelor of Science in Accounting, and Master of Business Administration.

Pat enjoyed a successful career at TL James. Upon his retirement, Pat stepped up to serve on the Ruston Civil Service Board and served in temporary roles as City Treasurer and then Controller. On February 23, 2006, The City of Ruston officially commended him with “Pat Barlow Day.”

Pat took no greater pride than that of his role as a husband and father, instilling a love of Jesus, people, and knowledge into his three children. When he became “Papaw,” his playfulness was on full display, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Pat was a man of God and loved his church community at Temple Baptist Church.

He was known by all as a man of integrity and service. He was a voracious reader, and a lifelong student of learning. Pat is survived by his Wife Joann Barlow, his older Brother James Pierce “Jim,” wife Fran, and sons Jimmy and Randy; sister-in-law Sadie Carson; daughters Vicki Barlow and Patti Baughman, along with husband Stein Baughman III and their son, Stein Baughman IV, and his wife Jen; Granddaughters Sarah Kozloski, husband John, Aubrey Williams, husband Oliver, Becca Conkle, husband Trevor; and great grandchildren, Ryker and Easton Kozloski, Trip and Levi Williams, Keeley and Bodhi Conkle, and “coming soon” Stein Baughman V; and a host of Nieces and Nephews.

Pat is preceded in death by his parents, Ponce and Ruby Barlow, identical twin brother Delton “Pete” Barlow, and son Steven “Steve” Wayne Barlow.

Services to honor him will be held in the Sanctuary at Temple Baptist Church in Ruston, on Saturday, February 26. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11 a.m.

“Surely your goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” — Psalms 23:6
