Eloise Frasier Mathewes, 100, of Ruston, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021.

Mrs. Mathewes was a lifelong resident of Lincoln Parish. She was born April 21, 1921, to Tom and Jeffie Frasier.

Mrs. Mathewes was a member of the Ruston Church of Christ. In her lifetime, she enjoyed cooking, quilting, fishing, talking on the phone, going to the Lady Techsters basketball games, and spending time with family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 68 years, John Wesley Mathewes; infant daughter, Doyce Eloise; sisters, Eunice Langston Sibble, LaNee Johnston Zmek; and brother, Thomas “Son” Frasier.

Mrs. Mathewes is survived by her daughters, Jean Guiterrez (Raymond) of Stevensons Ranch, Calif.; Jackie Jenkins (Tommy) of Ruston; sons, Jerry Mathewes (Kim Adkins) of Homer; Ray Mathewes (Debbie) of Simsboro; grandchildren, Penny Edmiston, Todd Edmiston, Teresa Coats, Amy Arnold (Billy), Sam Mathewes Clark (Mike), Mark Mathewes, and Blake Cummings; greatgrandchildren, Preya Bartee, Logan Stokes (fiancée Alexzandra), and Allison Coats; and great-great grandchil dren, Cason Bartee and Cohen Bartee.

Serving as pallbearers will be Sam Mathewes Clark, Mark Mathewes, Logan Stokes, Ralph Harrison, Tommy Murphy, and Andy Stevenson. Honorary pallbearers are Blake Cummings and John Birr.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 9-10 a.m. at Owens Memorial Chapel, in Ruston, with funeral services following at 10 a.m. with Jim Davis officiating. Jonathan Long will be directing the singing. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
