Funeral services for Dianne Britt Adkins, 76 of Ruston, will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Ruston. Visitation will be prior to the service at noon on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Pastor Chris Craig will officiate. A graveside service will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Homer.

Dianne was born in Minden, on November 4, 1945 and passed away on September 23, 2022 in Ruston. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Albert Britt and Eva Templeton Britt; her sister, Betty Britt Lee; and her beloved husband of 53 years, Tommy Jess Adkins. Dianne attended Minden High School where she cheered for the Crimson Tide and was homecoming queen her senior year. Following high school, she attended Louisiana Tech where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics.

Dianne cherished the friendships she made in high school and college for her entire life. While attending Louisiana Tech, Dianne would meet the love of her life Tommy Jess Adkins. They were married on July 15, 1967, before moving to Baton Rouge where she worked at Gulf States Utilities while Tommy attended Law School at Louisiana State University. Dianne and Tommy moved back to Ruston in 1970 where they would spend the remainder of their lives. Dianne was a member of First Baptist Church of Ruston where she served as GA leader and a beloved teacher to the second grade Sunday school class for many years. She was also a member of the Joy Sunday School class where she served as president. The ladies of the Joy Sunday School class always held a special place in her heart.

In 1980, Dianne and her cherished friends, Carolyn Banks and Billie Nelson, opened Ruston Florist, Inc. Dianne was a talented florist, creating beautiful floral arrangements for life’s most special occasions for the better part of 20 years.

Dianne loved to travel, enjoying adventures all over the country and world. Some of her most special memories were made on trips with family and friends.

Dianne is survived by her daughters, Leanna Adkins Buckley, husband James, and granddaughter, Hannah of Monroe; Jenny Adkins James, husband Tom, and grandson John of Ruston; brother-in-law, Jerry Adkins and wife, Martha Sue; and sisterin- law, Pamela Adkins Yester and husband, Charlie of Brenham, Texas; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers are Billy Adcox, Jr., Marion Aycock, Kane Banks, Kerry Banks, Phillip Hood, Richard Hood, Scott Leachman, Paul Nelson, and Cole Patterson. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Adkins, Rodney Banks, Gary Burford, Wayne Hunter, Dr. C. Lawrence Neal, Robert F. Patterson, Britt Wampold, Mike Wampold, and Charlie Yester.
