Barbara Ann Marrable

Barbara Ann Marrable, 75, of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, died Jan. 30 at her home after a long battle with cancer. Barbara, a former secretary and legislative assistant in Ruston, was born Nov. 25, 1949, and raised in El Dorado, Arkansas, the daughter of Melba and Coy Griffin. She was a 1968 graduate of El Dorado High School.

She worked as a secretary at both Murphy Oil Company in El Dorado and T. L. James Construction Co., in Ruston, later serving as a longtime assistant to two state legislators from the Ruston area.

During her spare time, she enjoyed crochet, volleyball and spending time with family, especially at the annual Griffin Junefest for 40- plus years. She was preceded in death by her parents and her youngest brother, John Allen Griffin.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Marrable; a son, Christopher Jason Marrable of Ruston; a daughter, Kristina Kay Marrable of Ruston; two brothers, Donald Ray Griffin (Linda) of Ruston and Melvin Douglas Griffin of Arkadelphia; two sisters, Tina Marie Griffin of Ruston and Brenda Gayle Sutley (Bill) of Arkadelphia; and two grandchildren, Ainslee Susanne Marrable of Ruston and Frank Paxton Dowdy of Choudrant.

No public service is planned.
