Alice Montgomery Herrmann

Alice Montgomery Herrmann (Mamaw), 95, peacefully joined her Lord on January 29, 2021, to sing in His heavenly choir.

Graveside services for Alice Montgomery Herrmann of Ruston will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 20, 2021, in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston, LA.

Alice was born on October 4, 1925, in Washington Court House, OH, to William Wesley and Clara Mae Morris Montgomery.

She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio ,in 1947. Alice married Leo Anthony Herrmann on September 2, 1947, and they were married for 56 years until he passed away in 2004.

Leo and Alice raised four daughters, Cindy, Carol, Connie and Cissy. Alice was an officer and active member of various clubs in Ruston including Republican Women, Girl Scouts, PEO, Faculty Wives, Episcopal Church Women and The Littera Club.

She was an excellent bridge player and taught many generations the joy of the game. Alice was an avid Louisiana Tech season ticket holder. In her Girl Scouting tenure, Alice was the leader for all four daughters as well as serving on the Pelican Council Board. One of her greatest joys in life was serving others who needed help.

Alice could be found at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, singing in the choir or planning the annual Taster’s Luncheon. She also enjoyed catering weddings and luncheons.

Alice was preceded in death by parents: William Montgomery and wife Clara; husband: Leo Herrmann; daughter: Cindy Herrmann, sister: June Pero; and great grandson: Alexander.

Alice is survived by her three daughters: Carol and husband Bob Phillips, Connie and husband Mike McConathy, Cissy and husband Steve Napper; brothers: Bart Montgomery, Robert Montgomery of Ohio; grandchildren: Stephanie and husband Jason Spector, Tiffany Napper, Corrie and husband Cody Ford, Molly and husband Justin Ketchum, Michael Mc-Conathy and wife Lindsey, Logan McConathy and wife Lyndzee; great grandchildren: Adam Spector, Andrew Spector, Sophie Ketchum, Berkley Ketchum, Archor Ford, Noble Ford, Miles McConathy, Miller McConathy, Mikah McConathy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family extends a special thanks to the staff at Russ Place and Elara Caring Hospice Services for all of their dedicated care.
