Can you guess what the title of this article means? Here is a hint: I read the acronym in a sales email promoting a black Friday shopping event. You have seen the acronym “T.G.I.F.” before, so you can imagine the “Black Friday twist” to the phrase: “Thank God It’s Black Friday.”

When I read that email, my heart sank a little.

Is a consumer-focused, money-grabbing shopping frenzy something to thank God for? Should a shopping event cause us to thank God?
