Jack E. Potter, 87 years old, of Ruston, LA, was called home to the Lord on Wednesday, March 4, 2020.

Born to Paul and Hellas Potter in Crowley, LA on October 26, 1932, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Jack married Trudy Peterson on March 17, 1962. He dedicated his life to his wife, Trudy and their two children, David and Deborah. Jack loved to fish and hunt with his friends and family.

Duck hunting was his passion and he loved to hunt with his closest friend, David Carnal.

He also loved being with his grandchildren. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He attended La. Tech University on the G.I. Bill and earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Mechanical Engineering. Jack worked at Louisiana Tech University for 31 years until he retired in 1999. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and a member of the building committee. He was in the very first class of La. Tech’s Rock Steady Boxing and continued for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Hellas Potter, and his brother, Jan Potter.

He is survived by his wife, Trudy; his brother, Gene and his wife, Natalia; son, David and his wife, Stacy; daughter, Deborah and her husband, Philip; grandchildren, April and Jacob; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Pallbearers will be Bruce Ayres, David Carnal, Jerry Drewett, Randal Hermes, Tommy Ledford, and Phillip Washington.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Temple Baptist Church, the National Parkinson’s Foundation, or the American Parkinson Disease Association.

Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2020, at Temple Baptist Church Chapel in Ruston, with the funeral service to follow at 3 p.m.
