The proposal to create a central parkway along the U.S. 167 corridor through Ruston is on its way to the Board of Aldermen.

The Planning and Zoning Commission on Monday voted to recommend to the board the changes in the city’s zoning ordinance that would establish the parkway. The 5-0 vote — Commissioner Otha Anders was absent and Commissioner Tom Sumrall recused himself because he owns property along the corridor — came with no debate, discussion or public comment.
