Residents get look at Central Parkway plan


About 50 people took the opportunity Thursday night to learn firsthand about the Walker administration’s Central Parkway proposal for the U.S. 167 corridor through Ruston.

The proposal, which will be discussed by the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission on Monday night, seeks to encourage controlled commercial development along U.S. 167, while at the same time protecting nearby residential neighborhoods.

“We want it to look like our city was planned, not a hodge-podge,” Mayor Ronny Walker said during Thursday’s town hall meeting.
