Editor’s Note: This is the first part in a two part series about the creation, focus and future of the Boys and Girls Clubs of North Central Louisiana.

In 1997, a group of locals came together in an attempt to give local youth the proper care and attention they needed after school — the Boys and Girls Clubs of North Central Louisiana.

Bill Autrey, one of the founding members of the club, recalled the first time he realized there was a need in the community for constructive after school activities for young people.
