LPPJ Minutes

The Lincoln Parish Police Jury met in special session on Monday, August 7, 2017, at 4:00 p.m., at its regular meeting place in the Courthouse, Ruston, Louisiana. Present were: Theresa Wyatt, District One; Hazel D. Hunter, District Two; Bobby Bennett, District Three; Randy Roberson, District Four; David Hammons, District Five; Walter Pullen, District Six; Jody Backus, District Seven; Nancy Wilson, District Ten; Sharyon Mayfield, District Eleven; and Annette Straughter, District Twelve
Absent: Joe Henderson, District Nine; and Skip Russell, District Eight
President Randy Roberson called the meeting to order and delivered the Invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Walter Pullen offered a motion, seconded by Hazel Hunter, to approve the Agenda as presented. The motion carried with the following votes:
Yeas: Wyatt, Hunter, Bennett, Roberson, Hammons, Pullen, Backus, Wilson, Mayfield, and Straughter
Nays: None
Absent: Henderson and Russell
President Roberson then called for any public comments on the agenda as approved. Mr. Bill Smith commented on the procedure to be used in interviewing candidates.
Interviews were conducted with selected finalists. Following the interviews, Walter Pullen offered a motion, seconded by Hazel Hunter, to enter into executive session for the purpose of discussing the qualifications and competence of the interviewees. The motion was voted on and carried with the following votes:
Yeas: Wyatt, Hunter, Bennett, Roberson, Hammons, Pullen, Backus, Wilson, Mayfield, and Straughter
Nays: None
Absent: Henderson and Russell
Walter Pullen offered a motion, seconded by Bobby Bennett, to adjourn the executive session and reconvene the regular meeting. The motion was voted on and carried with the following votes:
Yeas: Wyatt, Hunter, Bennett, Roberson, Hammons, Pullen, Backus, Wilson, Mayfield, and Straughter
Nays: None
Absent: Henderson and Russell
Bobby Bennett offered a motion, seconded by Annette Straughter, to appoint Ms. Megan Wiens as the Parish Treasurer beginning October 1, 2017 to fill the unexpired term of Laura Hartt through December 31, 2017. The motion was voted on and carried with the following votes:
Yeas: Wyatt, Hunter, Bennett, Roberson, Hammons, Pullen, Backus, Wilson, Mayfield, and Straughter
Nays:None
Absent: Henderson and Russell
There being no other business to come before the Jury, the meeting was adjourned.
