Miss Mary Michael McGehee and Mr. Jake Thomas Woods were united in marriage at 11 a.m. on June 3 at the home of Tom and Dell Jones, in Ruston, Louisiana.

The ceremony was officiated by Kevin Flattmann of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. Music for the ceremony was provided by Brittany McGehee, Carly Taylor, and Jason Saucer. The bride’s parents hosted a buffet lunch on the grounds catered by The Upper Crust. On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Bridge Community Church in Ruston, Louisiana.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lucius D McGehee, Jr., of Ruston. She is the granddaughter of Edward G. Caldwell and the late Lorraine N. Caldwell, of Griffin, Georgia, and Mrs. Mildred T. McGehee and the late Lucius D. McGehee, Sr. of Ruston. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Billy J. Woods, Jr. of Shreveport. He is the grandson of Mrs. Alene S. Melton and the late Robert L. Melton, of Shreveport and Mrs. Gerry T. Smith and the late Nolan C. Smith, of Shreveport and Mr. and Mrs. Billy J. Woods of Granbury, Texas.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a Martina Liana wedding gown featuring a beaded illusion bodice with a low-cut back and an ivory Bellagio crepe skirt with a cathedral train.

To compliment her gown, the bride wore a cathedral veil trimmed in ivory satin. The bride carried a garden bouquet designed by Fine Folks and made to look as if one walked through their garden and picked flowers and foliage to create an organic--yet modern bouquet.

The bouquet was hand knotted with linen ribbon and contained white garden roses, ranunculus, blue thistle, snapdragons, bay leaf, eucalyptus, and fern.

Bridesmaids included Miss Jessica Chalkley of Atlanta, Georgia and Miss Sarah Jones of Ruston; both are cousins of the bride. The bridesmaids wore floor length gowns in champagne tulle, with a high neck and sequined lace bodice. Each carried a garden bouquet.

Groomsmen included Mr. Clint Woods of Shreveport, brother of the groom, and Mr. Luc McGehee of Ruston. The pageboys included Mr. Carter Hannon of Benton, Mr. Paxton McGehee of Mer Rouge, and Mr. William McGehee of Monroe, all are cousins of the bride. Each pageboy was four years old and responsible for carrying the bride’s train.

The bride is a graduate of Ruston High School in Ruston. She graduated from Louisiana Tech with a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages, and now works with Origin Bank in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The groom is a graduate of C. E. Byrd High School in Shreveport. He graduated from Louisiana Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering Technology and is employed with Woods Contracting in Shreveport.

Following a honeymoon in Boston and Maine, Mary Michael and Jake will reside in Shreveport, Louisiana.
