Bond commission OK’s Ruston request

Louisiana’s Bond Commission has unanimously approved Ruston’s request to issue up to $34 million in sales tax incremental revenue bonds for transportation projects in the tax incremental district.

The vote came Thursday during the commission’s monthly meeting in Baton Rouge.

“This was just another piece of the puzzle of infrastructure work we need to get done,” Mayor Ronny Walker said.

The first bonds are expected to be sold in about 90 days with the first project on the list being extending the Interstate 20 service road from Highway 33 to Rough Edge Road.
