Are you ready for some football?

Area teams are hard at work preparing for their season openers, and there will be several events going on over the next couple of weeks that help lead to the opening games.

While Cedar Creek School has already held its Media Day, Bearcat Madness is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at L.J. “Hoss” Garrett Stadium with Bearcat gear, football and more provided for fans, including a Kids Zone. The 2016 Bearcat football team will be introduced as well as performances by the RHS Cheerleaders, Bearcat Belles, RHS Band and RHS Pom-Pon Squad.
Grambling State’s “Fan Appreciation Day” will be held around noon Aug. 20.

Led by head coach Broderick Fobbs, the G-Men will scrimmage from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the practice field in front of the Robinson Stadium Support Building before participating in the Fan Day. Select players and coaches will be available to answer questions from different media outlets. Players and coaches who aren’t speaking to the media will be available to greet the fans and sign autographs.

Grambling opens its season at home at 6 p.m. Sept. 3 against Virginia University of Lynchburg.
Louisiana Tech University will hold its annual Fan Fest starting at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Thomas Assembly Center.

Concessions will be available in the TAC, while fans will also have the opportunity to purchase Tech merchandise and gear in addition to meeting the 2016 Bulldog football team.

Players will be available to meet with fans and sign autographs, while an inflatable, photo booth and face painting activities will also take place at the Ruston fan day. Bulldog fans will also have the opportunity to pick up membership cards for the LA Tech Kids Club Aug. 20 at the TAC.

The Louisiana Tech soccer and volleyball squads will also be in attendance to sign autographs and meet with LA Tech supporters. Fans will have the opportunity to make their way to Joe Aillet Stadium following Fan Fest to catch a glimpse of the 2016 football team prior to the team’s season opener Sept. 3 at Arkansas.

Tech’s home opener is scheduled for Sept. 10 at Joe Aillet Stadium against South Carolina State.
