Warmer weather always means more time to spend outside doing something fun.

And luckily this weekend Ruston and Lincoln Parish have plenty of events and activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Continuing at 7 tonight, Saturday and a 2 p.m. showing Sunday, Ruston Community Theatre will showcase their rendition of “Mondays Always Leads to Murder.”

So theatergoers and residents interested in the production have multiple opportunities to attend over the next couple days.

But first thing Saturday morning, area residents have two opportunities to support worthwhile causes with the Hope for Autism 5k and the North Central Louisiana Master Gardener’s Plant Sale.

Runners who haven’t already signed up still have a chance to do so Saturday morning at Lincoln Parish Park, with on site registration taking place prior to the race’s start time of 9 a.m.

It will be a fun-filled morning to help make a difference in the lives of children affected by autism and their families.

Race proceeds directly benefit the Hope Center for Autism, a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization which provides services to support children with autism and their families.

The race will be timed by Apex Endurance and awards will be given to top finishers.

The North Central Louisiana Master Gardeners will host their fourth annual Plant Sale 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at The Bridge Community Church. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.

There will be a large selection of herbs, flowering vines, flowering annuals and perennials, vegetable plants and treasures from master gardeners yards.

Louisiana Tech University will also be there with a wide selection of vegetable plants and other treats from their greenhouses. A monarch butterfly display will be set-up and five varieties of milkweed will be available for purchase.

The North Central Louisiana Master Gardeners Association is nonprofit, educational and volunteer oriented, and associated with the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service. A primary purpose of the association is to develop and enhance community programs related to horticulture.

By taking part in one or more of these events, it allows us as residents to further appreciate our community members for all that they do. We hope to see you out there.
