The Louisiana Tech University Alumni Association recently emailed Tech alumni asking them to join the Bulldog Alliance in light of further possible budget cuts higher education faces this year.

The association’s Director of Advancement Communications Frank Bennett said the Bulldog Alliance is an awareness movement to motivate Bulldog alumni to speak with their state legislators and voice their opinion on Tech matters.

“It’s a sounding board that unifies the alumni,” he said. “That’s our goal, to unify the alumni.”
According to the association’s email, alumni can sign up at www.bulldogalliance.latechalumni.com to become a part of the group.

“Now, more than ever, Louisiana Tech needs the collective voice of its alumni and supporters to be heard throughout the state and to advocate for our beloved university,” the email said.

Bennett said several alumni leaders created the alliance about a year ago to update the alumni on news and happenings around the university.

However, with the impending cuts, the association decided to send a mass email to get alumni involved by voicing their opinions.

“We want the alumni to get involved with voicing their opinions about the budget cuts,” he said. “This helps alumni stay aware and communicate with other alumni about he decisions and what is going on — stand up and fight for what is right.”
