Sales tax approval needed to move forward

Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker outlined his $80-million Moving Ruston Forward proposal during a press conference Tuesday. The plan includes a new three-quarter-cent sales that tax will go before city voters in April.

Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker officially unveiled his $80 million plan for infrastructure maintenance and improvements Tuesday saying if the city doesn’t start the work now it will fall even further behind.

“Is it going to cost? Yes. But my feeling is if we don’t do it now, 10 years down the road, it’s going to be harder to do,” Walker told about 45 people gathered at a late-morning press conference at Ruston’s Historic Fire Station.
