Second year Grambling State football coach Broderick Fobbs is one of finalists for or the STATS FCS Coach Of The Year, formerly known as the Eddie Robinson Award. Fobbs and Grambling have run the table in the Southwestern Athletic Conference just two years after the program was in such disarray that players went on strike. Before taking over the GSU program, Fobbs served as an assistant coach to a fellow finalist — McNeese State’s Matt Viator — from 2007-11 and again in 2013. The winner will be announced on Jan. 6 in Frisco, Texas the night before the FCS national championship game.
