RHS volleyball grows up in hurry

Usually it takes years for a new athletics program to establish itself and become truly competitive on all levels.

But not always.

Ruston High School’s volleyball team is one of those programs that has shattered the norm — going undefeated in district play in its first season of postseason eligibility and only seconds season as a program.

Started by head coach and former Louisiana Tech volleyball player Mandy Cauley in 2014, the program begins Division I Louisiana High School Athletic Association playoff action st 6 p.m. Thursday at Baton Rouge Magnet High School.
