With the cooler weather finally beginning to settle around Lincoln Parish, we encourage residents to get out and enjoy the crisp air.

In fact, we’ll help you out with a few ideas on how to celebrate this new change in season, just in case you didn’t have any in mind.

For those who enjoy a good visit with your fellow citizens while also enjoying a cold beer, North Central Louisiana Arts Center’s ARToberfest will begin at 5 p.m. for early bird admission and 6:30 p.m. for general admission on Saturday at the Norton Building.

However, the highlight of the night will be the competition for the winning titles of Devine Home Brewer: People’s Choice and Devine Home Brewer: Brewers Choice from among the local home brewers at the event.

Those attending will also be able to listen to the live music of Monty Russsell, Bethany Raybourn and the Goodness Gracious and the Bluesaholics while enjoying bar snacks and unlimited beer tastings until 10 p.m.

With the funds raised being used to support the NCLAC’s annual Holiday Arts Tour in December, visitors can have fun while knowing they are helping to further arts and culture in Lincoln Parish.

Tickets are available at the Dixie Center for the Arts and Fine Line Supply in Ruston.

Next, for music lovers of all kinds, the Dixie Center for the Arts will welcome the return of Davis and Johnson and the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra at 7 p.m. on Friday.

From Elvis to Sinatra, this orchestra likes to put their own twist on the music played by the biggest names in the business.

Plus, the two ringleaders, Jeremy Davis and Clay Johnson are both Louisiana Tech University graduates.

So, join their friends, families and fans as their high-energy fun-loving orchestra takes the Dixie stage for a night of musical entertainment. This local talent can play anything from Blues to Soul to Louisiana Spice, so be ready for a good time.

Tickets can be purchased at the Dixie Center for $20 for adults and $10 for students.

Both events are sure to bring their own kind of fun while supporting the arts in Lincoln Parish. So, kick back with a locally brewed beer, or relax with the smooth sounds of the Equinox Orchestra. Either way, it sounds like fun to us.
