Even after a category 3 hurricane landed in South Louisiana that flooded 80 percent of the city and claimed 1,833 lives, local firemen did was asked of them. They would say they were just doing their duty.

Lincoln Parish Director of Homeland Security Kip Franklin, a former district fire chief, and Ruston Fire Department Public Education Officer Eric Brazzel were asked to join the efforts of rescuing citizens in New Orleans in the days following Hurricane Katrina.
