Junior Brandi Wingate (25) prepares to hit for two of her career-best 19 points Thursday for the Lady Techsters, but that effort wasn’t enough as Alabama-Birmingham beat Louisiana Tech 63-54 in the Thomas Assembly Center.

Brandi Wingate had a career-high 19 points, but it was not enough as Louisiana Tech (11-10, 6-4 C-USA) fell to UAB (12-9, 6-4 C-USA), 63-54, on Thursday night in the Thomas Assembly Center.

UAB entered the game as the No. 1 ranked scoring defense in Conference USA and showed why, holding the Lady Techsters to a season-low in points in Ruston and only 30 percent (17-56) shooting from the field. Tech averaged more than 82 points per game in its first eight home contests, but the Blazers stymied the Lady Techsters offensively.
