Elenora Albrecht Cawthon was born December 6, 1917, in Mission Valley, Texas, the elder daughter of Lillie Lassmann Albrecht and Otto H. Albrecht. She went to her heavenly home on June 1, 2014, in Carrollton, Texas. Visitation and the funeral will be at Zion Lutheran Church in Mission Valley, Texas, beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014.

Accomplished, fun, fiercely intelligent, and religious, Elenora was a memorable presence to her family and many others. She attended Patti Welder High School and Victoria Junior College before earning a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1938. Elenora and John Ardis Cawthon married in 1948, one day before receiving their doctorates. They lived in Russellville, Arkansas, and Ruston, Louisiana. While at Louisiana Tech she served as Director of the Placement Office, Dean of Student Services and Vice President for Student Affairs. She was President of the national College Placement Council in 1972-73.

Upon her retirement in 1989, she was appointed to the Board of Supervisors for the Louisiana State University system. She was a longtime board member of LifeShare Blood Center, and was active in civic groups. Friends cherished her gifts of handmade Christmas stockings and afghans. A devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ruston, she also served as organist.

She joins her parents, sister Josephine, cousin Dorothy, cherished in-laws Jim, Annis, and Maggie Lee, and nephew John Robert, as well as her beloved John Ardis. Elenora leaves to celebrate her life daughter Elisabeth, son-in-law Steve, and grandchildren Elisabeth and Alexandra, as well as family members Marilyn and Earl Mayfield, Richard Cawthon, Nita Cawthon, Beth, Nall, Eli, Walker, and Ella Grace Gearheard, Jim Saunders, Susan Saunders, and Mei-Lin Saunders, and many dear friends, especially in Ruston and Mission Valley.
