Flashlights, batteries, portable generators and other emergency supplies will be exempt from the 4 percent state sales tax on Saturday and Sunday, May 24-25.

According to a statement released by the state Department of Revenue, the 2014 Louisiana Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday gives Louisiana residents a chance to get ready for storm season before the Atlantic Hurricane Season begins on June 1.
