Ryan, Speed to wed on June 21

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mitchell, of Gonzales, and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Ryan, of Gloster, are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching wedding of their daughter Rebecca Nichole Ryan, of Baton Rouge, and Garrett Edward Speed, of Houma.

Rebecca is the granddaughter of Annette and Preston Hammett, of El Dorado, Ark., the late Alfred Cates and the late Byrd and Raymond Ryan.

She is a 2003 graduate of Tara High School in Baton Rouge. She received her bachelor’s degree in marketing from Louisiana Tech University in 2008. While in college, Rebecca was involved in Phi Mu Sorority, and has served as the Philanthropy and Recruitment Advisor for the organization as an alumna.

She is currently employed with the Refinery Services division of Genesis Energy.

Garrett is the son of Melanie and Eddie Speed, of Jena. He is the grandson of Carmen and Don McCleery, of Jena,  Pollie and Mike King, of Longview, Texas, and the late Flora Bradford Speed, of Jena.

He is a 2003 graduate of Terrebonne High School in Houma. He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 2009. While in college, Garrett was involved with Delta Chi Fraternity and the American Society of Civil Engineering.

He is currently a rig engineer for BP.

The wedding is set for 6:30 p.m. June 21 at Ashley Manor in Baton Rouge. The couple will reside in Houston, Texas, after they are wed.
