On Thursday, the VFW Louisiana Post 3615 Ruston, along with Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, conducted a flag burning ceremony at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Boy Scout Troop and Pack No. 59 opened the ceremony by displaying the proper way to fold a flag. Afterwards, the troop and pack helped burn the flags that were being retired.

According to the United States Flag Code, “The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”
