Cole, Singh unite in marriage

Kendal Michelle Cole and Kevin Jaipaul Singh were united in marriage at six o’clock, June 4, at First Baptist Church Winnfield. The ceremony was officiated by Dr. Calvin Phelps of Natchitoches. Music was provided by Edith Price, organist.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Randy Reppert Cole, of Winnfield. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Woodgate Read, of Ball, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Pat Phillips Cole.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Spoonamore, of Centerville, Ind., and the late Jaipaul Singh. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Wiersum and Mrs. Evelyn Singh and the late Luke Deonarine Singh of Houston, Texas.

Greeting guests and delivering programs were Jennifer Adams Allen, of Houston, Texas, Lindsay Harlan Hilton, of Hornbeck, and Lindsey Thurmon Norris, of Madison, Miss. The foyer table held an arrangement spring ari, plumosa, pastel pink roses and baby’s breath. The motif was carried out in the sanctuary where ivory wicker pew baskets adorned the center aisle containing the same mixture of spring greenery and pink roses. The railing at the altar was a display of magnolia branches interspersed with spring ari, leather-leaf, ruckus and baby’s breath.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless, A-lined gown fashioned from diagonal strips of ivory organza. The empire waist was accented with an antique embellishment made from silver beading. Completing her ensemble was an ivory chapel length train that was embroidered with her new initials in pearls and silver crystals. She carried a bouquet of assorted shades of pink peonies wrapped in ivory ribbon, with her great-grandmother’s handkerchief embedded in the bouquet.

Shelley Cole Parker, of Ruston, served as the honor attendant. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Teat Bourgeois, of Anna, Texas, Courtney Denise Buffington, of Atlanta, Ga., and Tara Maleete Post, of Shreveport. They wore petal pink chiffon dresses with a fabric flower detail on the halter bodice and carried a single pink peony with greenery wrapped in ivory ribbon.
Curtis Naipaul Singh, of Indianapolis, Ind., brother of the groom, served as best man.

Groomsmen were Martin Edward Eric Malzahn, of New York, N.Y., Benjamin David Miller, of Shelbyville, Ind., and Jeffrey Thomas Parker, of Ruston.
Master Caleb Rex Mitchell, of West Chester, Ohio, initiated the procession of children, ringing the bride’s grandmother’s brass bell. Master Preston Luke Parker, of Ruston, served as Bible bearer, carrying the bride’s great-grandfather’s Bible down the aisle. Master Nate Jaipaul Mitchell, of West Chester, Ohio, served as ring-bearer. Child attendants also included Miss Caroline Grace Mitchell, flower girl, of West Chester, Ohio, and Master Jack Jaipaul Singh, of Indianapolis, Ind.

Soloist, John Holland, of Winnfield, performed “My Tribute” prior to the processional and Shelley Cole Parker sang “Lord, Here Am I” during the wedding ceremony. Mary Wynn Allen Hurd, of Norwood, Colo., and Rebecca Neal Williams, of Ruston, honored the couple with readings of their favorite scriptures. A congregational hymn, “Love Divine All Loves Excelling,” followed the readings.

After the wedding ceremony, a reception was held at the Winnfield Civic Center. Musical entertainment was provided by Bruce and the Bluebirds. At the conclusion of the reception, Kendal donned a refashioned version of her mother’s wedding gown, originally worn Dec. 28, 1974.

The couple then departed for their Hawaiian honeymoon, which included visits to the islands of Oahu, Hawaii, Maui and Kauai.

Kendal is an alumna of Louisiana Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in speech, language, hearing therapy, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She is also a graduate of Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport with a Master’s degree in Communication Disorders. She is currently employed as the coordinator of the Speech-Language Pathology program for the Claiborne Parish School System.

Kevin is an alumnus of Ball State University with a Bachelor of Architecture degree, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He also graduated from Auburn University with a Master of Building Construction and is employed as an assistant professor of architecture at Louisiana Tech University.

Prior to the wedding the following showers were held in the couple’s honor.

A Lingerie Shower/Bachelorette Weekend at the Turquoise Place Condominium in Orange Beach, Ala., hostesses were: Jennifer Bourgeois, Courtney Buffington, Shelley Parker and Tara Post.

A Miscellaneous Bridal Shower was held on April 9 at Carolyn Hanna’s Winnfield home. Helen Aurdisch and Pat Thurmon were also hostesses for the event.

A Bridal Coffee was held in Winnfield on April 23 at the home of Kim Bankston. Bridal Coffee hostesses included Margaret Acosta, Cheryl Adams, Teresa Bailey, Virginia Bartlett, Meredith Bates, Linda Carroll, Sheila Causey, Pat Dosher, Kristy Farr, Bonnie Maxwell, Lisa Price, Sheila Price, Jennifer Shelton, Karen Shirley, Candace Tarver, Margaret Tarver and Mimi Wold.

A Bridal Tea was hosted on April 30 in the home of Shelley Parker, of Ruston. Bridal Tea hostesses included Jennifer Bourgeois, Jennifer Byrd, Courtney Buffington, Tara Post and Rebecca Williams.

On May 7 a Holiday Shower was hosted by Johnny Louise Porter, of Winnfield. Lindsay Hilton, Lou Harlan and Gloria Hickey assisted in the courtesies.

A China/Crystal/Flatware Shower was held on May 15 at the Winnfield home of Helen Lyn Bankston. Kim Bankston, Jackie Gaddis and Susan Little were also hostesses for the event.

The groom’s parents, Joan and John Spoonamore, hosted a rehearsal dinner for the wedding party and the bride and groom’s families at Merci Beaucoup in Natchitoches on the evening prior to the wedding.

On her wedding day, the bride, along with her family and friends, enjoyed relaxing at a bridesmaids brunch hosted by Jeanette Bamburg. Also included as hostesses were Kayla Areingdale, Kimberly Meno, Dianne Read and Wendy Read.

The couple will make their home in Ruston.
