The Lincoln Parish Police Jury will hold a Health and Welfare Committee meeting tonight before its full meeting on Tuesday to discuss updated COVID-19 procedures and protocols.

The meeting will begin at 5:15 p.m. at the Lincoln Parish Library Events Center.

The meeting's agenda, which was sent out late Friday prior to Gov. John Bel Edwards' mask mandate on Saturday, outlines workplace protocol for parish employees who contract or are exposed to the novel coronavirus.

Police Jury President Joe Henderson said today that the committee will also confer with its legal counsel during tonight's meeting to determine what, if anything, the jury needs to implement to align with or enforce the governor's new mandate. The committee will then make a recommendation to the full jury during its Tuesday meeting.

Tonight's agenda gives detailed procedures for police jury employees who are sick with symptoms of COVID-19, develop symptoms while on the job, are may have been exposed to COVID-19 but do not show symptoms.

Look for more detailed information on the mask mandate's local effect in Tuesday's edition of the Ruston Daily Leader.
